Emotion 2 - Cry -Story added-

Description

She'd watched from the paned single-glazed window above the road. But she'd never imagined how bad it would really be, as the Unit threw the wooden door to the outside gate open and tore out onto the path, her red converse glowing brightly against the various shades of grey that made up the path, the nearby road and the building beside her.

Already, the scent of smoke had hit her, along with a more unpleasant, sinister metallic smell- unmistakeably blood. Amilyn suddenly heard the cry of a young man as he staggered towards her, bleeding from his head. "There's a fire!" He yelled. Being automatically programmed to react to such things, Amilyn turned on her heel and ran back upstairs to alert the others there. "There's a fire out there! The car's on fire!"
"Calm down, Ami! Calm down! Now, tell me again." The girl panted and felt her heart pound as she repeated the first sentence. "Alright."
Leaving the olders to carry on telling the ambulance service the details, the Unit didn't just want to sit down and do nothing. Despite that there was little a 15-year-old girl could do in a disastrous car accident like that, 5015 had been trained to assist. And that's what she'd do.

Heading back outside and ignoring the sobs and the chatter of people nearby, she carefully approached a young woman who was bleeding heavily from her face and nose. Her little boy was crying, but he seemed thankfully okay. Two paramedics were fitting a neck brace around the woman as she sobbed frantically: "Where's Mum? Where's Mum?"
"She's okay, darling- she's being checked over now." The female paramedic looked up and noticed Amilyn. "Excuse me, young lady, could you just run and fetch us a few chairs for these two?"
"Y-yeah, sure." She did as she was asked and stood back, knowing that there was little else. The road was littered with shrapnel and broken glass, as well as the grim traces of blood. The burning car had been put out safely by the fire brigade, and the ambulances were heading off to the hospital. The Unit allowed herself to lean against the brick wall behind her, fighting hard to keep the tears back. She'd wanted to help, she'd wanted to put out the fire with a simple blast of ice, like she'd been programmed to do- but she couldn't.
Because Ami was afraid.
Not only that, but because the fire brigade would obviously do a safer and better job. Hunta was only a Rank 10 - nearly the highest in the Federation, but still not quite ready. "And then... what? Will I be afraid to help when I leave?" She felt a warm tear run down her face.
"Excuse me, kid? Are you okay?" Ami blinked sharply and looked up to see the same guy as before (now holding an icepack to his head) stand in front of her. "Oh...yeah, I'm fine. A little shaken up, but I think we all are." Thankfully, the tear had ran from her left eye, which was nearly hidden by her dark magenta fringe. It escaped onto her shoulder and left no trace. "Yeah. Well, thanks for alerting the fire brigade." Ami bowed her head a little to show her appreciation and smiled, before saying: "I hope that clears up soon. Take care."

Back inside, Ami wandered into her room that had been littered with revision notes and homework. The SMH Federation had been cruel, and the Rank 10 Units had about 5 pretty important exams when the holidays were over. So the Unit had been spending the last two weeks studying hard for them.

She now collapsed hopelessly to her knees on the teal carpet, blood running from a small cut when she had grazed her leg against the cold metal of the chair. Ami let the tears fall freely, grasping her shorts tightly as she closed her shadowed eyes and opened out her emotions. Feeling so vulnerable, the Unit grasped her face in her hands as her sobs were loud and shaky. Although the situation had been handled safely and no one had been killed, Amilyn Hunta hadn't felt so helpless in quite a while.

Where was he when she needed him?

Okay, so, this is number 2 in my little collection of practicing-emotion drawings. I really tried hard with this one- and I think I did okay? XD I know that her right knee looks a little out of shape and her left hand looks odd but I didn't notice until I'd already done the photo. Ah well.
The story was inspired by what happened last Friday (check my journal if you don't know) and although not everything happened exactly, the basic elements were pretty much the same.
Ooh dear. Amilyn, you do get yourself into a state sometimes.
